Thoughts about Girlfriends…

When I was young, I believed in the concept of one best Girlfriend. You know the kind – one Girlfriend that would be everything you would ever need or want, someone you could share your deepest, darkest secrets, someone who always “had your back”!
As time went on, I come to realize that Girlfriends all had their strengths and weaknesses…just like I did. One Girlfriend may not be able to be all I needed, just like I may not be able to fulfill all the needs and wants of one.
I soon discovered that if you open-up your heart and appreciate every Girlfriend for the blessings they bring to your life, your life has many blessings!
It was then that I realized the value of Girlfriends (plural)!

One Girlfriend is needed when you’re going through things with your man.
-
Another is needed when you’re going through things with your Mom.
-
Another will sit beside you, in the bleachers, as you marvel at the talent of your children and their activities.
-
There’s one when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
-
One will hold you while you shed tears over the loss of a loved one.
-
One will cry with you as you experience the joy of holding your newborn for the first time.

One Girlfriend will say, “Let’s cry together.”

Another, “Let’s fight together.”
-
While another will say, “Let’s walk away together.”
-
One Girlfriend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies.

Another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will calm your spirit, one will be the wind beneath your wings.
But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, those are your girlfriends - the ones that share, experience and help make the memories of your life! It may all be wrapped up in one woman but, for many, it’s wrapped up in several.
Girlfriends are priceless….I’m blessed to have mine!
