Who’s ya Daddy?
June 11, 2009
Henry Eugene Waller was born on April 16, 1930 in Kingston, TX. He passed away August of 2001. He was 71 years young!
His friends knew him as “Gene”. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved him as “Pops”. To me, he was simply my “Daddy”.
His life was one of hard work, a large circle of friends, trips to Casino’s and more love for family than I could ever imagine – until he was gone.
For some reason, we think our parents will live forever. Why shouldn’t they? Think about it…they love us unconditionally, always there when we need help, a place to crash when we have no place else to go, lend an ear when we need to talk, a shoulder when we need to cry, words of wisdom we seem to resent, advice we know we can’t possibly take, unspoken forgiveness and the list goes on and on and on! What perfect people to have in our life!
It’s funny how, the older I get, the smarter my parents become!
I always remembered Daddy on Father’s Day. There was a phone call, a card, a gift or something. He was always acknowledged! Today is no different!
I was my Daddy’s first child and only daughter. We had some rough years, when I was growing-up but ended our time together with love, understanding, forgiveness and peace. I was with him the moment he took his last breath!
When Daddy died, I was given responsibility to pass his legacy to my children and grandchildren. I hope I am doing him proud!
Today, I celebrate Daddy’s Day! I hope you will join me and, whatever your relationship, whatever the memories, celebrate your Daddy…one day you will be very glad you did!

Happy Fathers Day, Daddy! I love and miss you!
Your Daughter…Sandi
